Holy Smokes, That’s Small

Today’s most clicked-on Seattle property is as cute as a hobbit-hole: $299,000 for a happy little shack in Ravenna, 600 square feet, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, built in 1924. It seems like a nice place to be alone: the walls are painted bright colors and the yard is bursting with flowers.

It last sold in July 2000 for $172,500. The average price of a house in that neighborhood is north of $500,000.

Some houses on that block have sold for cheap: a house a few doors to the east (6206 35 Avenue NE) sold for $325,000 (1,720 square feet) in 2004, and a 1951 2,080-square foot place went for $358,000 the same year.

The house is showing from 10:30 - noon on Wednesday and then they’re taking offers at 4 p.m. that day.
