Redfin is taking a break from the Sweet Digs in-person property reviews, pending the outcome of a discussion with the Northwest Multiple Listing Service about the format of our blog. Sorry for the interruption in service. We’ll be back blogging about the neighborhoods soon!

I yearn to live on this particular Mt Baker street, but until my ship comes in I must content myself with seeing such palatial places on garden tours, holiday home tours and through open houses.
One of these spectacular abodes will be open on Sunday, February 11, 2007 from 1:00 - 4:00pm.
There is also a Broker’s Open House on Thursday, February 8, 2007, 11:00am - 1:30pm.

The most expensive property listed last week was a Hunts Point mansion priced at $7,900,00. If you suffer from claustrophobia, this is the place for you. This 4 bedroom, 5 bath, 5,357 square foot palace sits on over an acre of land and has 86 feet of Lake Washington waterfront.

Last weeks least expensive property was a condo in Everett for just $115,000. The listing says the kitchen has been newly remodled and if green is your favorite color you’ll love the grout lines on the countertops. In 593 square feet of space this unit has one bedroom with walk-in closet and one bathroom.

The most expensive and least expensive new properties on the market are both in West Seattle this week. Both properties have amazing views but at 10 times the price, the mansion gives you 10 times as much space plus all the luxury amenities you’d expect.

STATS:
Neighborhood: West Seattle
Asking: $1,975,000
Address: 5032 SW 97th St Seattle, WA 98136
Square footage: 4,430 sq. ft.
Bedrooms: 4 Baths: 4
Last sale price: $675,000 (1998)
MLS#: 27008241

This shack ain’t too shabby! The size of this studio condo is probably about the same size as the kitchen in the mansion but if 404 square feet of living space is ample for you, than how can you beat that view? This is a new construction and the unit on the top floor, it’s the perfect starter while you work your way up to the mansion down the street.

STATS:
Neighborhood: West Seattle
Asking: $169,990
Address: 2960 SW Raymond St #303 Seattle, WA 98126
Square footage: 404 sq. ft.
Bedrooms: 0 Baths: 1
Last sale price: new construction
MLS#: 27008547

Today’s most-clicked-on Seattle property is a U-District place that reminds me a little of my grandma: initially dowdy-seeming, but actually quite modern (she once bought my cousin a tattoo for her birthday): 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1,900 square feet on a 4,000-square-foot lot, built in 1937. Yours for $579,000.
OK, so here’s the boring part:

But check out the interior:

The listing description gushes about Brazilian hardwood, as if that’s a good thing for all of us.
It’s in a nice neighborhood (i.e. close to a Banana Republic and a Starbucks) of modest homes, though because of the remodeling, this one is a little north of the $534,440 average list price.

The place was bought three years ago, undoubtedly before the remodeling, for $315,000. The pictures look well-staged, so they’re working hard for the mark-up. I bet they get it.

Today’s most clicked-on Seattle property is as cute as a hobbit-hole: $299,000 for a happy little shack in Ravenna, 600 square feet, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, built in 1924. It seems like a nice place to be alone: the walls are painted bright colors and the yard is bursting with flowers.

It last sold in July 2000 for $172,500. The average price of a house in that neighborhood is north of $500,000.

Some houses on that block have sold for cheap: a house a few doors to the east (6206 35 Avenue NE) sold for $325,000 (1,720 square feet) in 2004, and a 1951 2,080-square foot place went for $358,000 the same year.
The house is showing from 10:30 - noon on Wednesday and then they’re taking offers at 4 p.m. that day.

Today’s most clicked-on Redfin Seattle property is a little Greenwood fixer-upper, on the market only three days: $279,000, built in 1910, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 790 square feet:
The agent comment say that it needs a little TLC, and there are only four pictures. The place seems old-fashioned and small, but not without charm. The lot is nicely sized at 3,840 square feet. The median price for the neighborhood is $480,000.

A house two doors to the east sold for $541,800 last October, but it had 2,220 finished square feet.

Today’s most clicked-on Seattle property was built 1957, back when there were still dirt roads in Bellevue: $549,950, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 2,760 square feet.

It has wood paneling. A nice park with tennis courts is just around the corner. It’s in the Bellevue School District, so you won’t have to pay for private schools. It’s on a large lot and it’s more than $100,000 less expensive than other homes in the area, but most of these were built more recently.

The house is taking offers first-come, first-served, but an open house is not scheduled for the coming weekend, and we’re not sure it’ll last much longer than that.

Today’s most clicked-on property in Seattle is a tiny Ravenna-area house: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, $395,000. In 2004 it sold for $279,000, so it’s gone up 42% in two years. The listing doesn’t include square footage, but the tax records indicate that it is 830 square feet. A house just three doors west (3 bedrooms, 1.75 bathrooms, 1,250 square feet) sold for $400,000 in August 2005. The MLS only includes one photo of our Sweet Dig, but you can find more here. There’s an open house from Sunday 1 - 4, and offers are being taken at 5.

The kitchen makes me nostalgic for big pots of spaghetti cooked in college apartments. Tthe cabinets are a bright green color.

And the yard is nicer than the house. I like the little stones, even if they only lead to a garage.

The place is only a little ways to the freeway, and not so far from UW. The neighborhood averages aren’t that much higher than the listing price of our Sweet Dig.

There’s a 5-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom place across the street that has been stripped to the studs for remodeling. To be honest, I’m surprised this other place isn’t today’s Sweet Dig, since the Redfin Seattle crowd likes fixer-uppers so much.
